The diagnostic is $100 for every brand. Typical all-in repairs, including the diagnostic, parts and labour, run $180-450 for a washer or dishwasher, $160-400 for a dryer and $200-650 for a refrigerator, before GST. It’s a rule of thumb: when a repair would cost more than half the price of a comparable new appliance, replacing it usually makes more sense. We use a version of it. Repair is normally the better choice when the appliance is under about 8-10 years old and the repair costs less than half the price of a new one. High-end appliances are almost always worth repairing.

The technician diagnoses the appliance, explains the fault and gives you a written quote before any work starts. If you go ahead, the $100 diagnostic is credited toward labour. If you don’t, the $100 is all you pay.

Calgary’s tap water is hard. The City reported 141 to 274 mg/L as calcium carbonate in 2025, depending on the treatment plant and season (City of Calgary water quality data).
